200 Years of UFOs over New York with Cheryl Costa Thursday, October 26 7:00pm FREE Cheryl Costa is a native and resident of upstate New York who saw her first UFO at age 12. A military veteran, she’s a retired information security professional from the aerospace Industry. She’s been a speaker at the International UFO Congress and at the MUFON Symposium. Cheryl writes the UFO column “New York Skies” for Syracuse New Times. Besides being a journalist, she’s also a published playwright. She holds a bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York at Empire State College in entertainment writing. From 1998-2001 she hosted “The X Factor” talk radio program in Washington, DC, covering UFOs and many other paranormal topics. Cheryl’s live presentations are known for their frankness, humor, and a bit of theatrical flair. New York State has had a unique history of UFO sightings, in fact it accounts for about 4% of the world wide sightings. Some sightings have been reported in word-of-mouth folk tales, some as sworn statements before county clerks in colonial NY. Some have been reported in 19th century newspaper accounts. One was even shared with a priest and annotated in the margins of a baptismal register. In more modern times, the reports of UFOs and strange aerial phenomena come to us in national reporting data bases. The reports range from as recent as last night, to a long overdue recounting of an incredible night long ago and some even come to us transcribed as deathbed accounts.
