Foto Frenzy First Friday

When

Event has ended
Join the Foto Frenzy during the Cortland’s First Friday art night on September 7th from 5 to 8 pm. Sponsored by the Cultural Council of Cortland County (CCCC), this activity encourages individuals to take and submit one to two cell phone pictures of activities during the event. “We like to challenge everyone to embrace their creativity with this project,” notes Martha Beck, (CCCC) board member and event committee chair. Beck explains, “participants in our initial Frist Friday Foto Frenzy took pictures of nature, buildings, and signs in the downtown area.”   Entries will be professionally printed, mounted and displayed at the Regional Photo Exhibit held at the Cortland Free Library in October. Participants will need to register on First Friday or within the following week. The registration fee is $10 for two images, which helps offset the cost of printing. Up to two photos must be submitted by email to culturalcouncil3@gmail.com.   “We hope the community will take advantage of this opportunity to participate. Inspiration is all around us, and this September we have a variety of venues lined up for First Friday,” explains Kat McCarthy, CCCC Executive Director. Current venues for the upcoming event include the 1890 House, Cinch Art Space, the CNY Living History Center, Sikora Arts, and the YWCA. Exhibits will include a scavenger hunt, Cortland Art League art opening, and “YW Programs in Action,” which showcases paintings of children and their mentors, photographs by the GEMS group, and artwork from preschoolers.   Cortland First Fridays are part of an informal, nationwide movement to celebrate the arts in local communities on the first Friday of each month. Participating galleries, studios, artists, interested businesses, music and performing arts venues will be open to the public from 5 pm to 8 pm to spotlight the arts.
