Lift Your Spirits at the 1890 House Museum! September 28th, from 7:00 – 10:00pm. Tickets are $15. and all ticket proceeds are raised in support of a new wheelchair lift for the Museum! The 1890 House Museum is thrilled to welcome the Finger Lakes Tasting Room, Dragonfyre Distillery, and Lively Run Dairy! Come for an evening of spirits of all kinds, paired with some of Cortland’s finest cheeses. The Museum will be open for exploration, and staff on hand to for impromptu tours. Most importantly, all funds raised through your ticket sales are dedicated for the purchase and installation of the 1890 House Museum’s new enclosed, exterior wheelchair lift. As a Victorian Era mansion, the property was built with little consideration for accessibility. Without a functional lift, our Museum is inaccessible to important parts of our community. Our old wheelchair lift is not salvageable, so we are upgrading! We have secured almost all of the necessary funds; the final piece of the funding puzzle was awarded through a Challenge Grant from the Emerson Foundation. The 1890 House has been challenged to raise $3500 by October 1st – if we do, the Emerson Foundation will match that amount! It’s an all or nothing grant – every donation matters!
