In what promises to be a truly cosmic experience, the Center for the Arts will be hosting an eclipse viewing event, “Space Odyssey,” on August 21, starting at 12:00pm through the duration of the eclipse to 4:00pm. There will be a light lunch served by the Center, with a workshop to create your own personal eclipse viewer. A space-themed soundtrack spun by local artist Jake LaManna (of The Magnetic Pull) will take place during the eclipse itself. The event costs $5 and includes lunch and materials. Eclipse viewing glasses will be readily available for $2. In the evening, we will host a viewing of 2001: A Space Odyssey at 7:30pm in the Whiting Theater. In the case of rain or overcast skies, we will project NASA's livestream of the eclipse in the Whiting Theater.
